The object of this blog is to display letters that were written -mainly between my mother and my father- during the years circa 1944-1946. That's them to the left, at their wedding on November 24, 1946. It's the war years, and there are other letters as well, from my grandparents to my father, between my uncles and my father, and from other assorted friends and family members to him. Originally he was stationed in Texas, then he went overseas, winding up in a POW camp on the northern Poland/Germany border, called Stalag Luft IV. His entire story can be read or listened to here. You can read the transcript or listen to the interview. You'll also see some memorabilia on that site.
Some of his crewmembers are shown here in Harlingen, Texas, just the enlisted men, I believe. He's the swarthy one, 2nd from the left. How did I end up so pale?
